What survives
When the site was redesigned in 2008, the new pages were numbered page2 to page11 and linked together by a row of image buttons. Most of them can be matched to a section of the site: the book archive, gallery, James Joyce, Easter 1916, articles, links, search, sitemap and videos pages. This page, page9, is the exception. The copy preserved in the Wayback Machine contains the site banner and navigation buttons but no heading or body text, and its page title, “Enda Lee”, gives no indication of the intended content. Rather than guess, the recovered material is kept below unchanged.
Exploring the site
The history collections that the 2008 design was built around remain available. The all chapters page lists every chapter by book, and the Book list covers the full-length texts. Good places to begin include F. Elrington Ball’s History of County Dublin, Dublin Street Names, Dated and Explained, Accounts of the Easter Rising and the Chronology of Dublin history. Each of the other numbered 2008 pages now opens with a short introduction explaining what its section covered and where that material can be found. Anyone who knows what this page originally contained is welcome to get in touch through the contact page.
The recovered 2008 page follows below.
